Following the Consultation, and thanks to a strong response from both residents and Councillors, the latest bus service proposals show an improved service for Fowlmere and includes the introduction of a Sunday service. The changes are due to be introduced in 2027.

The full long format document can be viewed below. On page 93 the document refers to the strong response from Fowlmere residents and Councillors:

Consultation Findings: Fowlmere:

“The public consultation findings showed that Fowlmere attracted particularly strong concern. Many respondents opposed the loss of the current 26 link or argued that the proposed replacement would be slower, less direct, and less useful for travel to Cambridge, Foxton, Melbourn, or Royston. Concerns included the loss of station access and reduced suitability for work, shopping, and education. This concern was shared by Councillors in the area who strongly opposed the removal of Fowlmere from the 26 service, stating that the initial proposal would effectively remove the well-used public transport from Fowlmere, leaving users with no viable transport options other than relying solely on car usage. This concern is reflected in the final service proposal to Guilden Morden which will now loop via Fowlmere and Newton.”

Thank-you to everyone who took the time to respond to the consultation. 🫶

Let’s hope that the new proposals are approved. 🤞
