Important roadworks information from National Highways
M11 between junctions 9 (Saffron Walden) and 12 (Cambridge) – road markings
“Dear Customer
I’m writing to update you on the progress of our maintenance work on the M11 between junctions 9 (Saffron Walden) and 12 (Cambridge). Our work includes installing new road studs and lining. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.
We plan to carry out this work over ten weeks between Monday 23 June and Monday 1 September 2025. We will work overnight between 8pm and 6am, weeknights only, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M11 in both directions between junctions 9 and 12 and divert traffic as detailed in the attached Annex A document.
We’ll carry out the work in stages, so we only need to close short sections of the M11 at any time. We’ll start by closing northbound sections of the M11 between junctions 9 and 12 before moving to the southbound sections.
Maps of the diversions can be found in HERE ”
